A little tiny update

Hey guys!

Happy 2018, by the way.

So, I haven’t posted in a long time.  The biggest reason is all the crazy back-to-school and other changes lately.  But also, I found out that the camera I use isn’t working well.  The battery’s probably the problem, so I’ll have to find one of those…

But when I come back, I’ll have a bunch of posts in the works!

Thank you for your patience.

Hello friend!

Merry Christmas!  I hope you are having a great day, full of family, friends, and fun!

So it’s officially indoor-photo season, and I’m hoping to get some more practice with indoor shots.  Today it’s my 3 dolls Julia, Addy, and Nellie in their holiday finery, with magical Christmas lights.

Wishing you the best day and new year ever!  I’m working on some new posts, so stay tuned…  🙂

With loads of love and virtual hugs,

Elizabeth’s Ensemble

Yeah… I had a hard time naming this one.  😉

Hello readers!  Happy December!  I’m so ready for Christmas… so here’s a photo shoot of Elizabeth the 1st in a holiday outfit.  🙂

(Omigosh I just realized I’ve never taken a photo shoot of her!!!!)

Artsy angle shot… why not?

What’s she wearing?

  • Jumper and blouse from my Grandma (old AG)
  • Hat from Elizabeth’s riding outfit
  • Tights from somewhere…
  • Felicity’s black meet shoes

Posts have not been priorities lately… sorry about that.  My goal is 3 posts a month, but I also want to provide quality content, you know?  And where I live, the scenery’s pretty bleak for photos from November to April.  Maybe I’ll get some practice with inside photos!

Julia’s Last ‘Summer’ Picnic

soda pop 004.JPGHey all!  Can you believe it’s already October 23rd?!?  Crazy!  Anyway…

A little while ago, I wanted  to take some pics using the cooler set, and this is what came out of it!

One day, Julia decided to take advantage of the beautiful, warm autumn day.  Coconut inspired her by going to her bright orange cooler and making sad, squeaky noises.  Julia was not ready for Summer to be over, so she tried to make a picnic that was as beachy as possible.

soda pop 024“Coconut?!?  Where’d you go?  You’re the one who whined by the cooler and started this whole thing!”  Julia said, a teensy bit worried and a whole lot annoyed.

soda pop 026“This sandwich is too big.  I’ll go get Josefina to have lunch with me!”  Julia said.

“Woof!”

“Don’t even think about eating them while I’m gone.  I think I’ll take you with me, you’ve caused a lot of mischief already!”

Hey readers!

So in this post, the picnic blanket was actually a napkin.  That’s what is so fun about doll stuff – you can use small human things for them!

That’s about it… see you later!

Princess Hair Photoshoot + Tutorial

princess twist photoshoot 001.JPGHey!  Happy October!

A little while back, I made an instructable on how to do a princess twist hairstyle.  You can view it here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Fast-Easy-Non-Braiding-Princess-Crown-Updo/

But I had a bunch of extra photos from it, and I thought I’d post them here!  🙂

I’ve been thinking if maybe I should start having smaller photo shoots, like ones about this size.  Maybe I’d be more selective, only picking the best photos to post.  What do you think?

‘The Real Z’ Book Review

Z 001.JPG

I just finished reading “The Real Z” by Jen Calonita.  I know Z came out a while back this year, but I just kind of brushed her off, thinking she was just a reused, uncreative doll.  While her doll looks just like Truly 64, except with a different part and a mole, her story surprised me.  In a good way!  I really enjoyed it!

The story is about Suzanne “Z” Yang, a stopmotion filmmaker in Seattle, Washington.  When she gets a chance to enter a film contest, she is super excited!  But then she finds out that it’s very different from anything she’s ever done before, and she feels pressured and a little discouraged when her friends don’t like her first try.  Will she be able to express ‘the real Z’?  Can she save her Camera Club, buying a new camera with prize money?  Will she maintain good relationships with her family and friends?

Read the book and find out!

Now for some spoilers.  *evil grin*  Don’t read anymore if you want to be surprised with the book.

What I liked in ‘The Real Z’:

-One of her BFFS is in a wheelchair.  It’s good for girls (and everyone, really) to read about people with disabilities, so they aren’t intimidated or scared when they come across them.

-All the Korean-American traditions incorporated in the book.  I learned new things!

-The fact that Z uses AG dolls for AGSMs(American Girl Stop Motions), and she’s 13.  I appreciate AG reaching out to girls who are above the 8-13 age range, portraying doll photography as something cool and interesting, instead of creepy like many people think it is.

-The stress put on online safety.  A lot of girls post their personal info or inappropriate things.  I like how supportive and tuned-in  Z’s parents are.  🙂

What I didn’t like in ‘The Real Z’:

-Z was a bit immature in her fights with her friends, and when things didn’t work out.  But it wasn’t bad!

So, if you are thinking of reading it, I encourage you to do so!

Have you read Z’s books?  What do you think of Z?

My New Doll Storage!

Hello cyber-world!

If you’re like me, and have more than three dolls in your house, you probably have run into a problem: storage.  AG dolls are large and semi delicate, so they pose a bigger problem than most toys.  We’ve tried many  unsatisfactory, temporary solutions at my house, but I think this one is a keeper!

8-23-17 018

(Sorry for the bad pic, it’s dark in that room.)

A three shelved wardrobe!  You could fit even more dolls if they were standing, but sitting is their safest position, I think.  There is a drawer at the bottom, where I’m keeping my latest purchases and special items that need space.

You might notice that 3 of our dolls are missing.  Elizabeth the 2nd, Grace Thomas, and Kirsten are Curiousgeorgefan’s dolls, and she has them in her wardrobe.

How do you store your dolls?
