AG Doll Size Kili Coat From the Hobbit: an Unexpected Journey

Hey everyone!

The title says it all.  I made a doll-size Kili coat.  Kili is a dwarf from the book and movies The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.  I’m a big Tolkien geek.  🙂  This coat is what Kili wears when you see him for the first time in the first movie- The Hobbit: an Unexpected Journey.

Kili’s on the right.  I made a VERY simplified version of his greyish-blue coat, basically from memory (and using the materials we had).  I love all the celtic designs…

Have you ever seen any of The Hobbit or Lord of the Rings movies?   (Bonus points if you’ve read the books!) If so, who are your favorite characters?

What’s Going On

Don’t freak out.  This is not an “I’m leaving” post.  You would be justified in thinking that, since I haven’t blogged in a month-ish.  I do this blog for fun, so I don’t have a schedule.  I just post when I want to (and have decent material!), so the joy is still in it.

And for some reason WordPress isn’t allowing me to cut and paste pictures, so the Name Game #3 has to be postponed for a bit.

I am working on Crystals and some more future posts, so stay tuned!  🙂

The Name Game #3

Hello readers!  Happy March!

We are doing another Name Game!  This time, we’re naming the #17 Just Like You doll.

To play, simply look at the doll above, and comment 1-10 names that you think would suit her.  After the deadline, I’ll pick my 5 favorite names from the ones you commented.  The deadline is March 9th, 2017.

Thank you for commenting which doll you’d like to see next in the previous Name Game.  I will use your suggestions in a future Name Game.  🙂

Julia’s Wishful Thinking

2-24-17-006

Hi reader!   🙂

I don’t know about you, but I’m already itching for Spring.  It’s my favorite season!  It’s Julia’s favorite, too.  And since it is her birthday month (and she um, kind of wasn’t in the Valentine’s Day post… even though it was her birthday…) she deserved a photo shoot!

2-24-17-003

She looks like a totally different doll in this pic… isn’t it weird how that happens?  Pro tip:  If you’re considering buying a doll, google it!  Check out lots of pictures of her, and if you still like the look of her from various angles, you know it’s the one.    XD

This reminds me of a cover of an Anne of Green Gables-type book.  I got really lucky  with the weather, the ground was dry and the rain didn’t start until I was done taking photos!

Hello!  🙂

I just noticed that this shoot had a sort of melancholy feel to it.  Maybe the grey sky helped?  Thoughts?

My November 2016 Trip to AG Place Chicago – By IrishAG

12-15-16-023

Hey everyone!  This is kind of a Throwback to a November post that I never finished.  Better late then never!   😀

In November, Curiousgeorgefan, my mom and I all went to AGP Chicago.  It was all decorated for Christmas, with greenery and ornaments, as shown above.  I didn’t take too many pictures, because I was focusing on being there.   🙂

Omigosh, this dress!  It was all over the store, and it is just beautiful.  It’s so sparkly!  The muff is super cute.  The doll I thought looked best in it was Truly Me #55, shown below.

For the first time ever, we went to the restaurant.  It was all decked out and bright.  The waiters were very enthusiastic and friendly.  You could put your doll in a seat to sit with you, or you could borrow a doll.

12-15-16-034

They gave us cups and saucers for the dolls, which was really fun.  You get to take them home!

12-15-16-035It was very fancy!  There were four courses: cinnamon buns, appetizer plate, entrée, and dessert.  Each course was small, but we were filled up.

12-15-16-036I got the “Bitty Bites”, which was a bunch of tiny food on a plate.  It was delish.

12-15-16-040The dessert was a flowerpot of chocolate mousse, and a vanilla cupcake.

Overall, I’d give the Café a 4.9 out of 5 rating.  The only complaint I have is that you could only be in there for an hour, so it was a little rushed towards the end.

12-15-16-044

One of the reasons I wanted to go was to see the Girl Ear Piercing station.  It is located where Creative-tees used to be, on the second level.  I think they discontinued the Creative-Tees because of the Signature Studio, which has more options.  The Doll Hospital drop-off was boarded up with red boards with stars on them.  I wonder what will happen there…

12-15-16-045This is the inside.  There wasn’t anyone there at the moment, so I snapped some pics.  On the lower left is the cart that has (I presume) the sanitation and piercing tools.  The dolls are there to stare at you while the deed is done.  (Just kidding!)  🙂

12-15-16-047This is where it all happens, folks.  The chair is hidden from view by the wall that faces “Avenue AG”.

There is my long-overdue tale.

Have you ever gone to an AG Place?

Tenney, Logan and Felicity Release!!!

Tenney Doll & Book Logan DollFelicity Doll, Book & Accessories

All pictures in this post are from AG’s website.

Yep, you read that title correctly!  Today not one, not two, but three American Girl dolls were released.  Contemporary characters Tenney and Logan, musically talented bandmates from Nashville, and Felicity Merriman, a Colonial girl living in WIlliamsburg at the time of the American Revolution.  (Pictured left to right.)

Out of them all, Felicity is my favorite.  Gymnast03 got Felicity before she retired years ago, but I’m glad Felicity’s coming back!!!  Her stories are the best, and she’s such an awesome character.

I especially like her hat, I have one exactly like it!

You can buy the dolls and their collections online at Americangirl.com

Brynn, Noa and Elana from AG Life!  (Saige as Brynn, Elizabeth the 1st as Noa, and Josefina as Elana.)  In a recent episode, they made popcorn.  And we had 4 doll popcorns from the Lea movie event, so it was perfect!

Grace Thomas, being the baker that she is, had to get in on the fun, too!  She made tarts for Valentine’s day.3-17-16 010.JPGHere’s a shot from “her kitchen”.   🙂

How did you celebrate Valentine’s day?

Tenney Grant and Logan Everett Revealed in AG Magazine!

2-6-17 008.JPG

Hey guys!

I got the March/April 2017 AG magazine, and this was inside the cover.  Tenney Grant!!!  And Logan Everett!!!

I’m surprised AG would release a picture, but I guess they’re taking away a lot of the secrecy, especially with the Gabriela reveal.

So…  I love Tenney!!!!  She looks like a Truly Me doll I’ve been eyeing for a while, I love her outfit much more than the Lilac dress Truly Mes come in.  And her hair and everything…  🙂  She’s gorgeous.  And I’m glad they’re making a doll from Nashville, as many, if not most of the dolls are from the upper east coast.

Logan, on the other hand, isn’t my cup of tea.  I wonder how well he’ll sell, maybe people who don’t want to customize will buy him.  I do like the drum set, though.

P.S.  This is my 100th post!!!!  🙂
